More info: The client’s risk of needing an emergency room visit in the next 1–2 weeks has increased.
When evaluating this risk, consider:
- the client’s decision-making ability
- ability to take care of personal hygiene
- ability to prepare meals
- abnormalities in eating
- irritability
On average, half of these clients will need an emergency room visit or unplanned professional care within the next 1–2 weeks.

Assess the client’s general condition.

Measure temperature and blood pressure.

If the client has fever or other signs of infection, take a rapid CRP.

Decide whether the client needs health care services because of the increased emergency visit risk.
