Deviation in Activities of Daily Living (ADL-AI)

Alarm level explanation: The customer has difficulties performing activities of daily living. Can the situation be prevented from getting worse?

ADL-AI assesses the client’s ability to independently cope with daily activities, where 0 = Fully independent. Completes tasks without difficulty. 1-7 = Independent in most tasks. Some tasks may take more time than normal. 8-14 = Needs support in many tasks. Independent completion of tasks is slow. 15-21 = Needs help with almost all tasks. Able to support in most tasks, but cannot cope with them independently. 22-28 = Needs help with all tasks.

The assessment takes into account the following daily activities:

  • showering
  • dressing
  • walking
  • moving independently or using aids
  • going to the toilet
  • getting out of bed and getting into bed
  • eating

The values of the ADL-AI score are usually close to the values of the ADL score (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Activities_of_daily_living), but may deviate from it in some situations, because ADL-AI is based on the customer’s daily care notes which are interpreted by artificial intelligence.
