Summary: earlyWarningScore

Early Warning Score (EWS-AI)

Alarm level explanation: A major deviation in customer’s vitals, which requires immediate reaction

EWS-AI measures the client’s vital functions, where 0= No deviations. 1-3 = Single abnormal vitals or small deviations in several vitals 4-5 = Deviations in vitals 6-15 = Significant deviations in vitals.

The calculation takes into account :

  • body temperature
  • blood pressure
  • oxygen saturation
  • pulse
  • respiratory rate

The values of the EWS-AI score are usually close to the values of the EWS score (see https://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Early_warning_score), but may deviate from it in some situations, because some of the values used by EWS-AI may be based on the customer’s daily care notes read by artificial intelligence or on self-measurements made by the customer. In addition, unlike EWS, EWS-AI does not take into account the customer’s level of consciousness.
