More info: The client’s mean systolic blood pressure has been above 140 mmHg for at least a month, or the mean systolic blood pressure has increased by more than 10% in six months.
- Ask doctor to evaluate client’s condition.
- Antihypertensive therapy should be considered if the blood pressure is greater than 160/100 mmHg.
- Elderly often have other risk factors in addition to blood pressure and then the starting limit for treatment is 140/90 mmHg.
